Update: Front Line Calls for Urgent Action in Tolekan Ismailova’s Arrest in Kyrgyzstan

Yesterday, the World Movement Secretariat sent out an alert about the arrest of World Movement participant Tolekan Ismailova during a peaceful demonstration on March 18 in Bishkek, Kazakhstan.  Since then Front Line has called on individuals to send letters to President Kurmanbek Bakiyev on Ms. Ismailova’s behalf.  In the letter, Front Line calls on President Bakiyev to carry out an immediate and impartial investigation into Ms. Ismailova’s arrest; to ensure Ms. Ismailova’s physical and psychological security and integrity; and to allow human rights workers to carry out their legitimate work freely and without fear of reprisal.
