World Movement Participant Arrested during Peaceful Demonstration in the DRC

On March 15, World Movement participant Floribert Chebeya and three others were arrested during a peaceful march and a sit-in at the Palais du Peuple to denounce the political institutional crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).  The men were later released on March 17.  The charges against them are not known, but they were badly beaten at the time of their arrest and threatened with a revolver, allegedly by agents of the National Intelligence Agency, before being transferred to police custody.  They are in the process of being seen by doctors.
